Row over visit of VHP leader to naxal-hit areas

KORAPUT: Tension prevailed in the district when the district administration has prevented VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati from visiting naxal-prone region of Malkangiri district on Tuesday. Supporters of RSS and VHP staged rasta rokos in different parts of the district protesting against the decision. Authorities clamped ban orders under Section 144 in Malkangiri, Kalimela and Padia. However, the VHP leader went on a hunger-strike where he was put up by the administration.The district administration has finally facilitated the visit of the VHP leader in a landmine-proof vehicle to Kalimela to lay foundation for Saraswati Sishu Mandir at block headquarters. He is scheduled to lay foundation of Sri Ram temple in Padia on Thursday.
